Dr. Ramkumar hails from a traditional Ayurveda family, and has continuously been occupied in promoting and strengthening Ayurveda, the primary health tradition of India . He is the Founder- Managing Director of Punarnava Ayurveda , an organization in South India that is committed to the cause of 'Authentic Ayurveda for Universal Well-Being'.

He is the Managing Trustee of Punarnava Ayurveda Trust, a Trust that furthers the cause of good Ayurveda training and education - also by conducting International Conferences. Dr. Ramkumar is the H ead of the Department for Ayurvedic Therapies in the Ananda Spa Institute, a premier Spa Institute in Hyderabad , India . He is Managing Trustee of Satya Ayurveda Trust, an Ayurveda accreditation body primarily for the purpose of setting and regulating standards for the study and application of Ayurveda in pursuit of wellness.

Dr. Ramkumar's contribution to the Ayurveda world today is also by his being on board of Trusts and scientific journals, as "AYU" of Gujarat Ayurveda University . His Articles are published and appreciated in International magazines as 'LA Yoga' etc. as well. Dr. Ramkumar has also spoken extensively and held workshops on Ayurveda in the Americas , Africa, Europe and South-East Asia .

Under the auspices of Punarnava Ayurveda, an Ayurveda village vaidyagrAma is being created on the outskirts of Coimbatore city in the foothills of the Western Ghats . Proposed to open to the world in mid-2009, this will be a natural place of healing with authentic Ayurveda.

Dr. Ramkumar's interests are as varied as his talent, as is evident from his being an Honorary Director of Bhakti Natya Niketan - the dance school in Coimbatore .
